Khảo sát hiện trạng kỹ thuật và hiệu quả nuôi cá Rô Phi đỏ (Oreochromis spp.) trong lòng /bè ở Tỉnh Đồng Tháp

The study was carried out based on direct interview to households practicing red tilapia farming in cages in Dong Thap province with prepared checklists. The objective of the study was to evaluate current status and economic efficiency of the production, and to propose improvement of farming techniques oriented to produce tilapia products fulfilling export criteria. The study results showed that red the tilapia farming in cages in Dong Thap province has been has developed rapidly. The farming sector reached high yields and economic efficiency. However, most of the households lacked of faming know-hows resulted in facing difficulties in the production process. The rapid increase of cage number plus big harvests led to competition in selling product and reduced fish prices; Besides, the quality and size of the harvested fish only met the demand of domestic consumption. Therefore, it was necessary to continue the study to improve the production process meeting export criteria and to support sustainable development of the red tilapia farming in cages.
